New Delhi: The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad witnessed a spectacular display of sixes and fours as opener Sanju Samson and captain Suryakumar Yadav showcased their extraordinary strokeplay in the third T20I between India and Bangladesh on Saturday, October 12.

Samson struck his first T20I century with a brilliant 111 off 47 balls, while Suryakumar Yadav made a whirlwind 75 off 35 late in the innings. Then, Hardik Pandya and Riyan Parag continued the attack at the death – Pandya striking 47 off 18 and Parag making 34 off 13 as India romped to several milestones and records. India had gotten off to a flying start, thanks largely to Samson’s onslaught, and that was just the beginning as they would go on to manage 297-6, batting first.

Following an exhilarating batting display, let’s take a look at five milestones achieved by India in the third T20I against Bangladesh.

1. Second fastest T20I hundred by Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson scored his maiden T20I century in just 40 balls, making it the second-fastest hundred by an Indian in T20Is, only behind Rohit Sharma’s 35-ball record.

2. Suryakumar Yadav becomes second fastest Indian to 2500 T20I runs

Suryakumar Yadav reached the milestone of 2,500 runs in T20Is during his 71st innings, making him the second-fastest Indian to achieve this feat, just behind Virat Kohli, who accomplished it in 68 innings.

3. India registered the second-fastest 200 by a team in T20Is

India achieved the second-fastest team total of 200 runs in T20Is, reaching the milestone in just 14.3 overs. This remarkable feat is surpassed only by South Africa, who accomplished the same in 13.5 overs against the West Indies in 2023.

4. India score the joint highest number of sixes in a T20I (22)

With 22 sixes, India matched the record for the most sixes hit by a full-member nation in a T20I, a feat previously achieved by Afghanistan against Ireland in 2019 and the West Indies in their match against South Africa in Centurion.

5. Highest team total by a full member nation in T20Is

India’s total of 297-6 surpassed Afghanistan’s 278-3 against Ireland in Dehradun in 2019, making it the second-highest total in men’s T20I history. The innings brought India tantalizingly close to becoming the second team to cross the 300-run mark in the format.
