CONCORD — Five people wearing masks and armed with sledgehammers and pickaxes invaded a jewelry store in broad daylight at a mall Sunday, police said.
All five got away with “numerous pieces of jewelry,” following the 1:15 p.m. smash-and-grab robbery at the Kay Jewelers inside the Sunvalley Shopping Center, according to a statement from Concord police.
No one was physically injured.
According to police, the suspects used the sledgehammers and pickaxes to break the jewelry glass display cases. All of them also wore gloves and hoods, police said.
The five people fled in a dark-colored Dodge Charger before police arrived.
Police did not release any other details. They encouraged anyone with information to call their tip line at 925-603-5836.
