Foot Locker opens first India store in New Delhi’s Nexus Select City Walk

Multi-brand global sneaker retailer Foot Locker has opened its first brick-and-mortar store in India. Located in New Delhi’s Nexus Select City Walk, the 4,888 square foot store is part of a strategic partnership between Metro Brands and Nykaa Fashion which also includes e-commerce retail in the country.

“One year ago, when Foot Locker announced it would enter the Indian market in 2024, I knew this was a moment I needed to be a part of,” wrote Foot Locker’s district sales manager Cherry Grewal on Facebook, sharing photos of the store launch. “Fast forward to now- relocating to India, working alongside an incredible team, and seeing our vision become a reality. On October 19th, 2024, we proudly opened the doors of Foot Locker India at Nexus Select Citywalk in Delhi, following unforgettable pre-opening festivities. To the first-ever stripers of India, your heart, sense of community, agility, and accountability in preparing this store for our guests have truly inspired me. You embody what it means to be part of the Foot Locker family.”
 
Foot Locker’s CEO Mary Dillon attended the store’s launch event wearing a saree which resembled Foot Locker’s signature monochrome stripes. The launch event also included cultural entertainment and over 150 guests came to preview the outlet.
 
“The response to Foot Locker’s launch in India has been incredibly exciting,” said Metro Brands Limited’s president Alisha Malik, Indian Retailer Bureau reported. “Our focus has always been on meeting the evolving needs of the Indian consumer and creating a space where they can shop for globally aspirational products in a multi-brand environment. The overwhelmingly positive reception confirms that we are on the right path. We’re excited to elevate the sneaker culture in India – Game on!”
 
The store’s design and build management was executed by Design Matrix, which ensured that its look and feel are in keeping with Foot Locker’s global brand image. In store, shoppers can browse men’s, women’s, and children’s footwear by labels including Adidas Originals, Fila, Asics, Nike, New Balance, and Puma among others.
