Forget the “Naked Dress”—Jennifer Lopez Is All In on the Sheer Top

One of the biggest trends of the year? Well, it was hardly wearing any clothing at all: Naked dresses—that is, sheer or barely-there silhouettes—were all the rage on 2024’s Hollywood red carpets. Celebrities such as Bella Hadid, Zoe Kravitz, and Kendall Jenner all slipped into designs that exposed the body underneath—a look that is undeniably sexy, yet can be surprisingly elegant when done right. And it turns out, it’s not just a summer trend either—at least, that’s what Jennifer Lopez is making the case for. The superstar just transitioned the sheer look into holiday season, while spotted out and about in Beverly Hills this weekend. Naturally, she put her own spin on the aesthetic.

Instead of a naked dress, Lopez opted for a naked top. Jenny from the Block sported a sheer, crystal-covered top that exposed her bra underneath, and styled it with a chocolate brown leather skirt, knee-high boots, and a matching crocodile bag. If you think about it, the transparent shirt is a much more seasonally appropriate choice than rocking an entirely see-through dress. Not to mention, it’s a more demure way to dip one’s toe into the naked trend. Lopez may be onto something here for your next holiday party: You can replicate the naked look without feeling entirely naked. Just add a high-waisted skirt and a monochromatic bra top, and the look feels surprisingly polished. (Though, Lopez still loves a full-on naked dress, too.)
