PREMIER LEAGUE

There is only the small matter of the final day in the Premier League on Sunday.

Manchester City and Arsenal are vying to become champions, although it’s all in City’s hands.

If they beat West Ham at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola’s men will win a fourth consecutive top-flight title.

Meanwhile, Arsenal need to beat Everton and hope the Hammers do them a favour.

Away from the football, we also have the PGA Championship – one of the most lucrative and prestigious events on the tour.

Rory McIlroy won this tournament in 2014 at Valhalla, which is where 2024’s edition is taking place.

Despite his off-course troubles – he filed for divorce from his wife this week – McIlroy is still in the mix ahead of the weekend.

However, Xander Schauffele stole the show on day one as he equalled the lowest score in men’s major championship history for the second time in 11 months with a stunning nine-under par 62.

However, the main drama was on the arrest of world no.1 Scottie Scheffler hours before round was set to tee off.

Ahead of the race in Italy, there was plenty of incidents in the first practice that saw Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc fastest.

Carlos Sainz ran over the grass after locking a front wheel at the Variante Alta chicane, Lewis Hamilton had a spin at Acque Minerali and another off-track moment later on, and George Russell rescued a wild moment at Tamburello.

Max Verstappen complained he was struggling for grip in Turns 11 and 12 saying he had no grip at that corner because the car was bottoming when he hit the brakes and then lacking front grip on turn-in.

The Imola track that hosts the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix is known as an old-school track – narrow with limited run-off areas – and has also had extra gravel traps added to increase the jeopardy for the drivers.

Meanwhile, Hamilton is racing in Italy for the first time since his blockbuster move to Ferrari was announced.
