On Saturday, the film scored Rs 6 crore, taking its total of Rs 493.65 crore at the domestic box office, reports Sacnilk. To enter the coveted 500 crore club, the film just needs another Rs 6.35 crore!
On Saturday night, Sunny Deol hosted a grand bash to celebrate the mammoth success of ‘Gadar 2’.Bollywood’s Khans, Salman, Aamir and Shah Rukh Khanunited for this special occasion.Also in attendance were Ajay Devgn, Kajol, Vicky Kaushal, Shahid Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Shilpa Shetty, Sara Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Ananya Panday and Varun Dhawan among many others.
Directed by Anil Sharma, ‘Gadar 2’ is a sequel to 2001 release ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’. Sunny Deol reprised as Tara Singh and Ameesha Patel as Sakeena for the second installment. ‘Gadar 2’ released alongside Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam starrer ‘OMG 2’. While ‘Gadar 2’ will soon cross Rs 500 crore, ‘OMG 2’ has also managed to shine and minted over Rs 130 crore nett.
Speaking about the grand success of ‘Gadar 2’, Anil Sharma had previously shared, “For making a film more than ideology you need to have sensitivity and sympathy. You need to ask yourself the real purpose you want to make a certain film. When I was planning Gadar 2, I had a lot of pressure because of the first Gadar. So, for me it was very important to bring the feel and nostalgia of Gadar in Gadar 2 and the story should move forward with the characters of Gadar 1 only and not just make a sequel with different characters, story, and name it Gadar 2. Hence, I thought of taking forward the story of Gadar 1 characters.” Recently, Anil Sharma had shared that he has plans of making ‘Gadar 3’, but it will take a few years.
