Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella announced on Thursday the appointment of luxury brand veteran Giovanna Paoloni as its new chief executive officer.
In this role, Paoloni, a seasoned professional with two decades of experience in the luxury sector, is set to continue and strengthen the growth of the historic brand.
A graduate in economics and public relations at IULM in Milan, Paoloni started her career in 2004 with Armani and went on to join the Prada Group Northern Europe division in 2007, where she held various roles, including in wholesale and retail.
In 2015, she entered Harrods as general sales manager and in 2017 she was appointed retail director beauty, luxury and fashion at value retail. Most recently, she was general manager Northern Europe for Bottega Veneta since 2019, responsible for all business activities in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the Nordics.
“I am extremely proud and, at the same time, I feel the responsibility of taking over the leadership of this historic brand, representing the heritage of the Italian values and beauty that has no equal in the world,” said Paoloni.
“My goal is to drive the brand to the next phase of internationalization and exponential growth, with a particular focus to product development, retail excellence and new markets’ expansion.”
Paoloni will replace Gian Luca Perris, who will continue to support Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella as a consultant, leveraging his passion and three decades of expertise in artistic perfumery. Perris played a pivotal role in the recent growth of the company, doubling its revenue, stores, and employees within just three years.
Carlo Pesenti, CEO of Italmobiliare and chairman of Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella, added: “We thank Gian Luca Perris for the excellent work he has done and we
are confident that Giovanna Paoloni, thanks to her solid expertise, international experience and strategic vision, will give further momentum to the global development of Officina Profumo-
Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella.”
Acquired by Italmobiliare in 2020, the Florentine company has experienced remarkable growth, expanding its presence to more than 30 countries with around 380 points of sale, including 117 monobrand stores, and a third directly operated.
