What Is A UMID Card?
UMID provides a unique number given to railway employees and pensioners, with the help of which they get a unique identity to avail medical benefits. As there is a common database across India, unique identification is achieved with the help of a QR code and biometrics and it is also easy to avail medical facilities anywhere in the country.
Card Price Just Rs 100
UMID cards for railway employees can be made for just Rs 100 which will benefit around 12 lakh railway employees and 15 lakh pensioners along with 10 lakh of their dependents. Through this UMID card, all of them will be able to get their treatment in big hospitals of the country without any referral.
UMID In DigiLocker
Railway Board Executive Director Transformation Pranab Kumar Malik has ordered the issuance of Unique Medical Identification (UMID) cards. He said that this order has been implemented with immediate effect for railway employees.
Railway employees, pensioners and their dependents will get the card after their request through the Health Management Information System (HMIS). It will be kept in the DigiLocker of the employee and pensioner. The card will be available on the profile of the concerned employee and pensioner on the HMIS app.
