GoPro’s New Annual Subscriptions Add Many Perks and Cost up to $100

GoPro has expanded its subscription offerings and now offers its users three tiers: Premium, Premium+, and Quik.

“We’re excited to announce that GoPro subscribers and Quik app users can now pick between three subscription offerings,” GoPro explains in a press release. “With this comes the announce of a new Premium+ $99.99 GoPro subscription tier that offers additional features and benefits beyond the original $49.99 GoPro subscription tier, now known as ‘Premium.’”

GoPro Premium is the new name for what GoPro used to call its “GoPro Subscription.” The $50/year subscription includes unlimited cloud storage of GoPro footage, 25GB of storage for videos shot with other cameras, synced mobile and desktop editing, automatic cloud uploads, automatic highlight videos, enhanced media management tools, and live streaming to GoPro.com and other social media platforms.

The Premium tier also has GoPro store perks, including guaranteed camera replacement (with caveats, of course), up to 50% off accessories, $100 off a future GoPro camera purchase of $399.99 or more with subscription renewal, access to private virtual Subscriber Sessions, and double the payouts in the GoPro Awards. By the way, the first year is $25, with annual renewal costing $50.

The step-up tier, the new Premium+ subscription, is designed for advanced content creators. It is available as a $50 upgrade for existing GoPro subscribers and is $100 annually. It includes all the Premium benefits plus HyperSmooth Pro video stabilization and up to 500GB of cloud storage for footage captured with any non-GoPro camera.

Rounding out the three paid subscription offerings is the Quik subscription. This is made for non-GoPro users and costs $10 a year. It offers access to the Quik mobile app for editing smartphone content. The app offers automatic edits, 47 photo and video filters, 15 edit themes, 300+ original music tracks, and 150+ premium royalty-free tracks.

GoPro also announced that Quik Desktop is available now on macOS.

The Quik desktop app is available at no additional charge to GoPro subscribers, who can use automatic camera-to-cloud uploads of their latest GoPro footage and unlimited GoPro cloud storage.

GoPro's new subscription tiers

“Our new Quik desktop app syncs with our mobile app and cloud, making GoPro the ultimate content creation solution for beginners and advanced creators, alike,” says GoPro Founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman. “Quik’s auto-editing experience represents a convenient starting point for new creators, and our more advanced editing tools and ongoing developments in AI and computer vision ensure pro-minded users will enjoy enhanced capability as we continue to update our apps.”

Quik will also be coming to Windows later this year.
