New Delhi: Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Chennai Super Kings picked up their second consecutive win of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League after defeating Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans by 63 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, on March 26. CSK is currently in a captaincy shift as MS Dhoni stepped down as the franchise skipper ahead of IPL 2024 and handed it to young Gaikwad.

Deepak Chahar who played a crucial role in Chennai Super Kings’ biggest win over Gujarat Tiatns, made a hilarious remark on how he gets confused during the match as looks at both MS Dhoni and Ruturaj Gaikwas while bowling. Chahar picked up two big wickets of GT openers Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill in his four overs spell and only gave away 28 runs.

“Since the time I have been playing, I have been bowling 3 overs in the powerplay, used to it, just trying to bowl as well as possible with the new rules around. Earlier, if you bowled a bouncer in the first 2-3 balls, batters were always ready for a full length ball, but this new rule with two bouncers allowed in an over, it helps all the pacers,” said Chahar in the post-match presentation.

“There’s bounce always, but there’s not much dew around at the moment. The ball grips and bounces in such conditions. I got to look at Mahi (MSD) bhai and at Ruturaj – both of them these days (for instructions.),” he added.

Earlier, Shivam Dube’s blazing half century and great knocks from Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad helped CSK post 206/6 on the scoreboard. However, GT fell short by 63 runs in the chase as no batter could take a stand. Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande and Mustafizur Rahman picked two wickets each. Meanwhile, Daryl Mitchell and Matheesha Pathirana grabbed one-wicket each.
