Raipur: Amidst Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (PSC) selection list coming under judicial scrutiny, the state government has informed the high court that it was ready to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the allegations, aiming to address concerns about the transparency and fairness of the selection process.
During the hearing of the petition filed by former home minister Nanki Ram Kanwar, the state government counsel submitted that it would conduct a detailed inquiry and present its findings to the court. the 80-year-old BJP veteran, in his petition, had prayed for a probe by an independent agency, preferably by the CBI into the PSC selection list pointing out that kith and kin of top PSC officials, including its chairman and secretary, other bureaucrats, politicians, and influential businessmen figured in the final selection list.
As the legal proceedings continue, individuals who have been selected but not yet officially appointed and who are facing allegations will have their appointments subject to the orders of the court. The High Court has scheduled the next hearing of the petition for one week from today. During this time, both the state government and the Public Service Commission (PSC) have been directed to conduct a comprehensive verification of the facts associated with the lists submitted by the petitioner.
Furthermore, the court has tasked the state government and the PSC with verifying the facts provided in the petitioner’s list to ascertain the truth. The petitioner has been instructed to promptly notify the selected candidates and amend his petition by impleading them as respondents in the case.
The Court has also issued a stern caution to the petitioner, underscoring that any false information discovered during the proceedings will result in legal action being taken against them.
