GTA 6 fans breathe a sigh of relief after latest Rockstar release date update | Gaming | Entertainment

Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two recently confirmed that GTA 6 will have an autumn 2025 release date on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. While the exact date is yet to be specified, the rumoured October 4 Trailer 2 could potentially shed more light on Rockstar’s exact plans for the game’s launch. However, despite Take-Two’s confidence that GTA 6 won’t be delayed, some fans were concerned when finding out about the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) plans for video game actors to go on strike. The strike revolves around the use of generative AI in video games, and could potentially have a big impact on the release of multiple big projects going forward. The matter is made worse by the fact that Take-Two is one of the companies being targeted by SAG-AFTRA.

Fortunately for GTA 6 fans, however, SAG-AFTRA has announced that GTA 6 is exempt from the strike, despite Take-Two’s involvement in the project.

In a statement to Kotaku, a spokesperson for the Screen Actors Guild said: “While not struck, this game is produced by a struck company. If you have been engaged under a daily contract for this game, you can show solidarity with your fellow union members by choosing not to sign new contracts on the game.

“However, you may work on the game and will not be disciplined for doing so.”

With the release over a year away, there’s still time for things to change, but at the moment, it looks like GTA 6 is still on course for an autumn 2025 release date.

With a huge cast of characters, not to mention in-game radio productions, Rockstar Games will need to hire a lot of actors for the finished product.

For now, however, it looks like Grand Theft Auto 6 fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

Grand Theft Auto 6 takes place in the state of Leonida, which is based on Florida.

Rockstar explains: “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”

The trailer gives fans a look some of the map locations as seen from the skies above. This includes locations based on the Florida Keys, as well as the beach and more.

Hopefully we’ll get a better look at the locations, as well as some gameplay in the next GTA 6 trailer, which is rumoured to drop on October 4.
