If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
That appears to be the mindset for Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival organizers, who announced Country Music Hall of Fame member Emmylou Harris will return to Golden Gate Park later this fall.
Harris has performed at every Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival since the event began in 2001. It’s no surprise the festival keeps inviting her back; Harris is among the most revered artists in American country music history. Earlier this year, Rolling Stone ranked Harris at No. 79 on its list of the 200 greatest singers of all time.

M. Ward, who plays with actress Zooey Deschanel in the band She & Him, was announced as a solo performer. Shakey Graves, an Americana guitarist and singer with a devoted following, and Australian blues duo The Teskey Brothers will also appear at the festival.
In addition to the established acts, Hardly Strictly will feature the world premiere of a new supergroup. The Third Mind, a music collective founded by singer-songwriter Dave Alvin and featuring Counting Crows guitarist David Immerglück and Better Than Ezra drummer Michael Jerome, is set to perform live for the first time at the festival.
Finally, it was revealed that Doc Watson, who would have been 100 years old this year, will be honored at the festival with a tribute show. Watson was a seven-time Grammy winner who performed at several Hardy Strictly festivals before his death in 2012.
