The stars met during filming of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in 2006, and began a long-term relationship, The Sun reports.
Lynch, now 31, alluded to the relationship in 2015, sharing a selfie of the couple simply writing, “Happy 29th birthday to this little babe!!
“Sweetest boy! Off to see a show together #happybirthdayrobbie.”
The couple split in 2016, with Lynch sharing a sad quote on her Instagram by poet Rupi Laur.
“You mustn’t have to/make him want you/he must want you himself,” she shared alongside a broken heart emoji.
She later shared an update that she was “Still in a sad place”.
Fans have since taken to social media to share their surprise at the former relationship.
“How is it 2023 and I never knew this!” one Twitter user said.
“Omg how did I not know this,” said a second.
“So sweet. I wonder why they broke up,” added another.
Lynch made her debut in the fifth film of the franchise, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, as the dazed and dreamy Luna Lovegood.
Meanwhile, Jarvis played a younger version of Harry Potter’s dad James, featuring briefly in a flashback.
Despite the split, Lynch told US Magazine in 2016 that they were “friends”.
“We’re both vegans, so we go to a lot of vegan events together. So yeah, we’re good friends.”
The secret relationship revelation comes months after Warner Bros announced that the Harry Potter series would be re-visited as a TV series.
The show will air on Warner’s streaming service Max, formerly HBO Max, and comes 11 years after the final original Harry Potter film was released.
The series will be a “faithful adaptation” of the beloved Harry Potter books by JK Rowling, who will also serve as an executive producer on the project, according to a news release from April 2023.
The series is expected to run for 10 years – with the promise that each season “will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core.
“We are delighted to give audiences the opportunity to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way.
“Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World.
“In partnership with Warner Bros Television and JK Rowling, this new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years.”
