Harry Rosen unveils $50 million investment plan to revamp retail fleet

Canadian luxury men’s retailer Harry Rosen announced on Thursday a five-year investment plan totaling $50 million, aimed at revamping its retail fleet including relocating its flagship store in Toronto.

Harry Rosen’s Toronto flagship store will relocate to a 38,000-square-foot space nestled in the heart of Yorkville, Canada’s premier retail hub. Set to open its doors by spring 2026, the new three-story flagship promises customer-centric experiences, complete with updated design elements and immersive features tailored to reflect the brand’s vision while honoring its 70-year legacy.

The new flagship, situated on Cumberland Street adjacent to the Village of Yorkville Park, will boast amenities, including designer shops, a luxurious client lounge, an espresso bar, and valet parking on weekends, among other attractions. Partnering in this venture is KingSett Capital, a leading Canadian private equity real estate firm overseeing the Cumberland Street building.

“Since my father opened the Bloor St. doors in 1970, and our current flagship in 1987, Harry Rosen has developed such a deep connection to the Yorkville neighbourhood,” said Larry Rosen, chairman & CEO of Harry Rosen Inc., and Harry Rosen’s eldest son.

“We are very excited to continue pushing our legacy forward by positioning our most important, innovative, and immersive flagship at the centre of the Canadian luxury and fashion space.”

In addition to the flagship relocation, Harry Rosen unveiled plans to revamp its Canada-wide retail fleet, starting with a renovation of its West Edmonton Mall location in 2024 and followed by the opening of a new 16,000-square-foot store in Vancouver’s Oakridge Park development.

All Harry Rosen stores across the country are expected to be fully refreshed over the next five years with new designs optimized for client experience and interaction. The new store designs have been developed in strategic partnership with dkstudio architects inc., a renowned Canadian-based design firm.

“Retail is theatre, and the store is our stage,” added Ian Rosen, the brand’s president and COO—and a member of the third generation at the helm of the family-run business.

“Our new store concepts are a direct response to what we’ve heard from our clients and from studying the world’s leading customer experiences. Both are central to how we plan to deliver excellence moving forward.”

The retail revamp follows heavy investment in digital over the past five years, including growing e-commerce into Harry Rosen’s largest storefront; building Herringbone, an in-store associate selling tool by which style advisors directly drive 10% of online business; launching a new online outlet (FinalCut by Harry Rosen); and more.

Earlier this month, Harry Rosen announced a first-of-its-kind garment bag recycling program in North America, launching in partnership with TerraCycle. The launch of the garment bag recycling program also coincides with the retailer’s preparations for its 70th-anniversary celebrations in the fall.

Harry Rosen, the founder of the Canadian luxury menswear retailer that bears his name, passed away at the age of 92, in December.
