‘He always seems drunk, should undergo drug test’ — BJP MP Kangana attacks Rahul over ‘chakravyuh’ remark

New Delhi: Taking a swipe at Rahul Gandhi for his ‘chakravyuh’ remark in the Parliament, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut Tuesday stoked controversy when she said that the Congress MP was either “drunk” or on drugs.

Speaking to reporters, the Bollywood actor and an MP from Mandi added that “Rahul always hurts the Constitution”.

“Looking at the condition in which Rahul Gandhi reaches Parliament and the kind of arguments he makes, it seems that he is always drunk,” she said, adding that he should be tested to check whether he consumes drugs considering the kind of “nonsense” things he says. The video has since gone viral on social media.

Rahul, the Leader of Opposition (LoP), had Monday accused PM Modi and the BJP of trapping India in a ‘chakravyuh’ (trap) of fear, symbolised by the Lotus, drawing reference from the Hindu epic Mahabharata. “Today a 21st century lotus-shaped chakravyuh is trapping India and is controlled by six figures: Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Adani, Ambani, Ajit Doval, and Mohan Bhagwat,” he posted on X.

“I think he should be tested. Either he is drunk or he is under the influence of drugs,” Kanagana told reporters.

This is not the first time that Kangana has attacked Rahul. Earlier, on 1 July, while launching a scathing attack on him in the Lok Sabha, Kangana had suggested that the Congress leader should immediately seek therapy.

During the discussion on the President’s address in the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha, Kangana had described Rahul Gandhi’s speeches as irresponsible.

Ranaut said, in India, a prime minister is elected through a democratic process and PM Narendra Modi has been “chosen by the people of India”.

“Are we going to elect the PM looking at their age and gender? He (Rahul) has always tried to hurt the Constitution. Tomorrow he will say that a PM will be elected on the basis of skin colour. He does not respect the democratic processes. He was saying yesterday that we are Shivji’s baraat and this is a chakravyuh, and he was talking about the competition between the two. I think he should be tested whether he consumes any drug, the manner in which he comes to the Parliament and the kind of nonsense things he says. I am a new Parliamentarian and I was shocked to see (the manner in which he behaves). Don’t you think a drug test should be conducted for such a person? I think it should happen because he attends the Parliament either under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” she added.
