MÉNAGE À TROIS: The Hongshan-backed Norwegian fashion brand Holzweiler will unveil a three-way collaboration with luxury baked potato establishment Caviar Kaspia and Norwegian artist Bjarne Melgaard during Paris Fashion Week.
Coinciding with Holzweiler’s 10th anniversary, the limited-edition capsule, consisting of silk and wool scarves, down outerwear, jerseys, and merch items including matchboxes and lighters adorned with characters “Mr. Caviar” and “Miss Caviar” designed by Melgaard, will debut with a takeover and dinner on Sept. 25 at Caviar Kaspia’s Madeleine location with guests from around the world.
Some 15 3D printed and hand-finished sculptures and three large-scale sculptures created by Melgaard from deadstock Holzweiler material for the collaboration will also be present and available for purchase for the occasion.
Melgaard is no stranger to the world of fashion. Having collaborated with brands including Eckhaus Latta and Proenza Schouler, and running his namesake label, the artist is known for his playful approach to exploration of the extremes.
The range will offcially go on sale from Oct. 1 online and at select retailers.
Brand cofounder Susanne Holzweiler said Caviar Kaspia is their go-to spot whenever her family are in Paris, and has forged a personal tie with fellow Norwegian, Caviar Kaspia cofounder Anoushka Gresvig Mac-Crohon.
“We have always talked about doing a collaboration and now for our 10-year anniversary the timing was finally right. As Gresvig Mac-Crohon is also Norwegian, and Norway has a lot of amazing creatives and a growing creative community, but we are still most famous for our oil. We wanted to focus on our common Norwegian heritage in our collaboration, and as we discussed adding Norwegian art into it, Melgaard was on top of our list,” she added.
Holzweiler said her family has long admired Melgaard’s work, and has dreamed about a collaboration with Melgaard since the brand started a decade ago. When the artist approached them last December, it was a “pinch me” moment.
“For us, the energy between the people is always the most important if we proceed with a collab, and meeting Melgaard it was ‘love at first sight.’ We really felt we can definitely create something amazing together,” said Holzweiler, adding that she loved the embroidered puffers in the capsule.
Gresvig Mac-Crohon said hosting Holzweiler for this special project at Caviar Kaspia is an honor.
“We love and adore what they do, and they have become family to us. As a Norwegian, I am very proud that this event will celebrate Norwegian fashion, art, and food,” she added.
