On Saturday (October 7), Hamas terrorists attacked Israel, killing hundreds of people. Amid the war in the country, several tech executives, including Google chief Sundar Pichai and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella have announced support for employees working in the area. Now, chief executives of Amazon and Cisco have also launched efforts to keep their employees safe in the region.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said that the attacks against civilians in Israel are “shocking and painful to watch”.
“The attacks against civilians in Israel are shocking and painful to watch. I have been in touch with our teammates there to make sure we do everything we can to help support their families and their safety, and to assist however we can in this very difficult time,” Jassey said in a post on X.
“We’re also in close contact with our humanitarian relief partners on the ground and will be supporting their efforts. Hoping that peace arrives as soon as possible,” he added.
Amazon has an office in Tel Aviv established in 2014.
Launched humanitarian efforts, says Cisco CEO
Chuck Robbins, CEO of Cisco, said that the company has launched humanitarian efforts in Israel.
“Over the past three days, I’ve had the honour of spending time with many of our Cisco Israel teams to understand what they need most in the face of war, devastation, and loss of life.
First and foremost, we’ve been focused on their safety and well-being and that of their families. We’ve also launched humanitarian efforts to support those most vulnerable in addition to ensuring continuity of critical communications and security services,” he said in a post on LinkedIn.
“While we recognise the dynamics of the situation and know it’s far from over, I am so proud of our teams for their strength, quick action, and compassion. My deepest hope is that the situation will come under control soon, and that the rising and heartbreaking violence will cease, so that discussions can commence to bring about a peaceful resolution for everyone. Until then, we will remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting our teams, our customers and partners, and the communities we serve,” he added.
Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Instagram head Adam Mosseri have also condemned the attack.
