The NSW Government’s toll rebate scheme — which caps weekly travel at $60 — has handed back $39 million to residents so far.

Eligible motorists spending more than $60 a week on tolls can claim a rebate for between $60 and $400 a week on any tags and licence plate numbers on their personal toll account, for personal toll trips in a vehicle registered for private use, or up to $340 a week for each tag and licence plate number.

Residents of Western Sydney have made the highest number of claims, with Blacktown, Baulkham Hills, Marsden Park, Merrylands and Quakers Hill most represented.

The highest paying suburbs are Auburn and Lakemba, averaging $500 per claim.

There is still $80 million left unclaimed by Sydney residents.

Claims can be lodged through the Service NSW website.

The government also offers a toll relief rebate, with motorists able to claim a 40 per cent rebate if they spent more than $402 on tolls between July 1 last year to 30 June 30 this year.

The scheme has a maximum rebate of $802.
