Hyundai i20 facelift incoming! Teaser reveals new grille, LED headlights

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has confirmed that the i20 is all set to receive a mid-life makeover soon, with a teaser released on its social media handles revealing the front-end of the vehicle. The third-gen i20 was launched in India back on November 5, 2020, which means that it is on the verge of completing three years in the country soon.

While a launch date isn’t confirmed by the brand, the updated i20 could go on sale around the festive season this year.

That said, the teaser confirms that thei20 facelift gets a redesigned front grille with a new pattern, a new front bumper, LED headlights with L-shaped DRLs replacing the projector headlamp setup, as well as a new black trim separating the grille and headlights.
The teaser also reveals the omission of fog lamps from the i20 altogether. That said, the Hyundai emblem has been moved from the grille to the edge of the bonnet, similar to what we’ve seen on Grand i10 NIOS, Aura and even Exter. More details are yet to be revealed, but we do expect the i20 facelift to get brand-new alloy wheels as well.

The i20 facelift is expected to carry over its existing powertrain options untouched. That said, Hyundai offers the premium hatchback in India with two engine options – a 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated motor that makes 82 hp power and 114 Nm torque, along with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit putting out 118 hp power and 172 Nm torque. The former is available with a 5-speed MT and an optional CVT, while the latter is available with a 7-speed DCT as standard.
