Hyundai India reports its highest-ever monthly sales in September at 71,641 units: Exter, Venue and Creta boost sales

Hyundai Motor India today announced its overall sales figures for September 2023. Korean automaker registered its highest-ever total sales of 71,641 units in September 2023. The total sales for September include domestic sales of 54,241 units and exports of 17,400 units.
When compared to the last month of this year, domestic sales have increased by about 9.13 % as the company sold 49,700 cars in September 2022. The Export numbers too have increased, the company sold 13,501 units in September 2022 when compared to 17,400 units sold in September 2023. When combined with both domestic and export numbers, it has increased by about 13.25 % to 71,641 units, up from 63,201 units reported in the same month of last year.
Hyundai also said that the SUVs contribute to more than 65 % of domestic sales and the company claims that the newly launched Exter have witnessed exceptional customer response. Hyundai India’s SUV portfolio includes Exter, Venue, Creta, Alcazar and Tucson.

The waiting period for the Hyundai Exter has stretched up to nine months. Per our dealer, the waiting period for the entry-level EX and S variants is up to nine months, and the top-of-the-line SX and SX(O) variants command four to five months. The company had previously mentioned that the sunroof variants contribute 75% to the total bookings and more than one-third of the bookings are for the automatic variants. The Hyundai Exter is powered by a 1.2-litre NA 4-cyl petrol engine which puts out 83hp of power and 114Nm of torque. Gearbox options include either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT with paddle shifters. The Exter also gets a CNG option which comes paired with a 5-speed manual only.

Commenting on the September sales numbers, Mr. Tarun Garg, COO, of Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said, “In September 2023, HMIL has achieved its highest ever total monthly sales since inception marking a key milestone in the brand’s history. The ongoing festive season has resulted in a strong sales momentum, helping us achieve more than 9% growth YoY in domestic sales in September 2023.
