In four matches, Chahal took 19 wickets at an impressive average of 21.11. Despite not playing red-ball cricket for India, his achievements in the county circuit have boosted his hopes of joining the Indian Test team.
Yuzvendra Chahal is preparing to appear in the Test cricket:
Yuzvendra Chahal’s last appearance for the Indian team was in the T20 World Cup 2024 and since then he has been looking for opportunities to prove his worth in the longer format. During his stint in England, Chahal has expressed his desire to make his Test debut in the upcoming series against England in 2025. He believes that his performance in the tough conditions of county cricket has boded well for Test cricket.
“County cricket is tough cricket. It gave me an opportunity to showcase my skills against a very good standard of cricket. With India touring England next year, I wanted to show how good I am,” Chahal told TOI.
“Firstly, I am very grateful to Brindon sir who gave me an opportunity to play in County cricket, and then the Rajasthan Royal’s coaches introduced me to Krish Patel, a highly-educated 18-year-old cricketer who is thought to have a very bright future in the game. I want to see him play internationally and if I can help, I am always there,” he added
India will play 5 test match series in England:
India are scheduled to play a five-Test series in England next year and Chahal’s performance in county cricket has put him in the race for a place in the team. His journey in first-class cricket began in 2009 with Haryana, where he played 39 matches and took 115 wickets with an economy rate of 3.09. Despite his success in 152 matches in limited-overs cricket for India, Chahal is yet to make his Test debut.
