Varun Chakravarthy played a crucial role in Kolkata Knight Riders’ title-winning triumph in IPL 2024 with 21 wickets. He also finished second behind Harshal Patel in the list of Purple Cap.
New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders star spinner Varun Chakravarthy shared a cryptic message on Instagram after the Tamil Nadu cricketer was omitted from India’s 15-member squad for the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe starting next month. Chakravarthy, who last played for India in 2021, finished second among the highest wicket-takers in IPL 2024 with 21 scalps to his name.
Soon after the BCCI announced the team for the Zimbabwe tour, Chakravarthy took to Instagram story and wrote, “I wish I had paid a PR agency.”

Interestingly, BCCI picked four fresh faces in the Indian squad namely Riyan Parag, Abhishek Sharma, Tushar Deshpande and Nitish Kumar Reddy. With the kind of show Chakravarthy put up in KKR’s title-winning campaign, it was expected the right-arm off-spinner would get a chance against Zimbabwe.
