Smita Sabharwal was born on June 19, 1977, in Darjeeling, West Bengal, to a Bengali family. She is the daughter of Army officer Colonel Pranab Das and Purabi Das. At just reportedly 23 years old, Smita made history by clearing the UPSC examination, becoming one of the youngest female IAS officers in India. She completed her schooling at St. Ann’s High School in Secunderabad, Telangana. IAS officer Smita Sabharwal is widely known as the “people’s officer.”

Recently, she shared her Class 12th marksheet. Sharing a post on X, IAS Smita Sabharwal wrote,”#12thfail was an inspiration! But 12th Pass in flying colors is a sweet memory. Chanced upon my 12th result and recalled that doing well gives one the insane confidence to dream big! To all the dear kids who are prepping for #UPSC🇮🇳one of the toughest entrances in the world.. #workhard & #WorkSmart both. Articulation/subject knowledge both are equally essential. #civilservices.”

According to the CISCE ISC or Class 12th mark sheet, Smita Sabharwal scored 94 out of 100 in both English and Hindi. She scored 90 out of 100 in Economics in her CISCE Indian School Certificate Examination of 1995.

In the Structure of Commerce subject, she scored 86 marks out of 100. She scored 97 in Principles of Accounts. She was awarded ‘A’ Grade.
