In an email, the private bank said, the fraudsters may try to get details of your card such as User-ID password, URN card number , CCV , Expiry date, Grid, OTP through mails and messages by posing themselves from the tax authority and bank representatives.
ICICI Bank has asked its customers to be cautious as they may fall prey to online fraudsters with their refined approach. The bank said that they may approach a customer through sending mails , messages and may pose themselves as customer care executives or representing tax authorities to dupe them.
In an email, the private bank said, the fraudsters may try to get details of your card such as User-ID password, URN card number , CCV , Expiry date, Grid, OTP through mails and messages by posing themselves from the tax authority and bank representatives.
The bank also warned its customers that these scamsters may send a link of a replica of the popular commercial sites to fetch the customers’ details.
Urging customers to not share the bank or card details, it suggested a few possible potential fraud attempts-
– Messages and mails from unsolicited accounts asking for banking details
– Scamsters may use address domain name and logo to give themselves as genuine look
– In the sent mail, they always address the customers in generic form as ‘dear customer’ or ‘dear bank customer’
– The prefer to send mail with genuine identity but they will always a link inside the mail that will take the customer to a fraud site
The bank has urged its customers to immediately report the fraud to National Cyber Crime at cybercrime.gov.in or to call the Bank Helpline number.
