Northern India has started witnessing fog. During the season, train and flight passengers have to cope up with the situation. It is often seen that airlines leave the passenger in the lurch when flights are delayed due to bad weather conditions.

Now, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has tightened the noose of these airlines before the situation will get worse in the upcoming months of December and January. Now, the airlines will have to follow instructions regarding flight delays.

In Delhi, due to air pollution, several flights got delayed. Keeping in purview, the DGCA issued new directives to the airlines so the passengers’ interests can be taken care of.

The Union civil aviation ministry has shared the information on X and informed about the decision of DGCA. The ministry posted on X, “In pursuance to Para 3.8.1(a) of CAR Section 3, Series M Part IV issued by DGCA, Airlines have been advised to provide facilities to passengers during flight delays. These measures are designed to prioritize passenger convenience during unforeseen disruptions.

As per advisory issued by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), airlines to provide drinking water for delays of flight up to 2 hours, tea or coffee with snacks/refreshments for delays between 2 to 4 hours, and meals for delays exceeding 4 hours.

These provisions aim to enhance passenger experience while addressing their basic needs during extended waiting times.”

The directives are being seen as a major relief for the passengers if such a situation arises.
