IGL has hiked the CNG prices in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad. Check city-wise revised prices inside.
CNG price hike: The Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) has hiked the price of CNG in national capital Delhi and its adjoining cities by Re 1/Kg. IGL, which retails CNG automobiles and piped cooking gas to households in Delhi and adjoining cities, announced the hike in rates on its website on Saturday, following a drop in the supply of subsidised input natural gas.
Check the city-wise rate-list of CNG as per revised prices:
- New Delhi: Rs 75.09/kg from previous rate of Rs 74.09
- Noida: Rs 79.70 per/kg
- Greater Noida: Rs 79.70/kg
- Ghaziabad: Rs 79.70/kg
The prices for piped cooking gas supplied by IGL remain unchanged.
CNG price hike
IGL did not provide any reasons for the price hike but reports say that a sharp dip in domestic supplies has forced the provider to buy more imported gas, prompting the increase in rates.
Natural gas pumped out of the ground and seabed is turned into CNG for running automobiles. But supplies from ONGC’s domestic fields have not kept pace with the CNG demand.
Gas from ONGC fields make up for 66-67 per cent of CNG demand of IGL. The rest has to be imported.
Domestic gas supplies are prioritized for piped cooking gas purposes and so there is no hike in that segment, new agency PTI reported, citing sources.
No CNG price hike in Gurugram
Notably, the CNG price remains unchanged in Gurugram, as the Haryana city is served by a different provider..
Other city gas retailers have so far not announced any change in prices.
In Ajmer, Pali, and Rajsamand in Rajasthan, CNG prices have been increased to Rs 82.94 per kg from Rs 81.94 per kg by IGL.
CNG prices have also increased in Rewari, Haryana, as well as Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, and Shamli in Uttar Pradesh — towns serviced by IGL.
