A day after the JEE Mains Result 2024 was announced, an IIT aspirant has been found dead in his hostel room in Kota; it is a case of suicide.

New Delhi: India has multiple entrance examinations both on an educational and professional levels. Some of these examinations are considered to be the toughest in the world and each year, thousands of aspirants work hard to get through and only a selected few are able to do so. The results of the Joint Entrance Examination – Mains (JEE Mains Result 2024) were released on February 12, 2024 after which the students were able to check their JEE Mains Scorecard and the JEE Mains Cut-Off Marks for the coming academic session. While there was a feeling of joy for those who made it, there were many who were dejected. Unfortunately, one such IIT aspirant died by suicide in his hostel room in Kota, one day after the JEE Mains Result Announcement.

An IIT aspirant, Shubh Choudhary, who belongs to Jharkhand, was found dead in his hostel room in Kota, Rajasthan today. This case of suicide comes one day after the announcement of the JEE Mains Result 2024. The aspirant had been preparing for the entrance examination for the last two years; once the result was declared, he check and found out that his score was less than what he had expected. Shubh returned to his hostel room and was found hanging from the ceiling in this morning.

The police is searching his room for a suicide note or another clue but nothing has been found as of now. The aspirant’s family has been informed and an autopsy will be conducted after they reach Kota.

IIT Aspirant Suicide Case 

In another incident from early Feb, Utkarsh Raj, a student of IIT (BHU) in Varanasi has been found hanging in his hostel room. Final-year B.Arch (architecture) student Utkarsh Raj, 23, was reportedly suffering from depression and undergoing counselling sessions. As per the news agency IANS report, Utkarsh’s father Rajendra Prasad is a section officer in BHU. The family is based in Varanasi. At present, IIT BHU has yet to issue an official statement regarding the suicide of the student. Police said some of Utkarsh’s friends broke open the door of his room when he did not respond to their calls. Doctors at BHU hospital declared him dead on arrival.
