Underarm flab is a problem many women suffer with, no matter our shape or size. And trying to tone it down, or banish it entirely can be a tricky job in itself without knowing the best exercises to trim the fat.
But one fitness expert has taken to social media platform TikTok to reveal how to successfully banish the underarm wobble which typically gets looser as we age.
Denise Austin, a professional fitness coach who has worked in the industry for 40 years, shared her three best exercises for reducing bingo wings. “Let’s tone and tighten your arms today, no more flabby arms when you wave goodbye,” she said.
“Grab some light weights, anywhere between three to eight pounds, and do these three simple moves for one minute each. Here is my no flabby arms routine – just three and you’ve got this.”
Many of us are aware that exercise is vital when it comes to our overall health and wellbeing. In fact, it is so important that the NHS recommends we take part in at least 150 minutes of exercise every week to help protect us against dangerous conditions.
Regular physical activity can help keep the heart strong, keep us at a healthy weight and lower the risk for problems such as diabetes and fatty liver disease.
But many people commit to exercises with the goal of making aesthetic changes to their bodies. Getting rid of unwanted flab or loose skin under the arms is one such change.
On top of this there are multiple mental health benefits to exercising. Research has shown it can reduce anxiety and depression, as well as boost brain function.
The first exercise was a bicep curl. To do this she held weights in front of her body and brought her arms up at the same time.
“Make sure when you’re doing this your back is strong and straight and you curl all the way,” she said. “A full range of motion, do it for one minute.”
Next she bent her knees and leaned forward slightly with her upper arms pushed back. She moved her arms back and forth holding the weights.
Denise said: “The second is for the back of those arms – the triceps. Toning and firm them so when you wave goodbye nothing will jiggle.”
For the final move she pushed her arms up above her head and then down to her waist. She added: “The next one is for sexy arms. Hold your arms down and push them back up.
“Do this for one minute, keeping your tummy and your back strong, you’ve got this. Have sexy tank top arms.”
Her workout instructions impressed viewers, many of which were commenting on the fact she looked younger than her 67 years.
One said: “How have you not aged since I started watching you as a kid in the 80s? You are an icon!”
Another said: “Give us some of your non-ageing genes…you’re amazing.”
