‘I’m a neutral colour fan and this is what my M&S fashion capsule looks like’

Summer fashion might be set for colourful outfits but neutral colours are wardrobe staples that can stand the test of time. We are talking about solid colours like classic black, crisp white and dark navy.

I’m a fan of neutral tones and to have a fun summer capsule on these colours, the key is to play on textures and shapes. I visited an M&S store and picked out four outfits perfect for these coming months. Linen is such a summer fabric and that’s why the first item I picked was the M&S Collection Linen Blend Belted Utility Jumpsuit (£55).

It’s a great piece to throw on if you have to run errands, go to work or enjoy a city stroll in a place in the sun. The top half features a collared neck and short sleeves that won’t be too revealing whilst keeping the arms covered. It also includes a self-tie belt to cinch in the waist for a flattering shape.

However, the jumpsuit does not have any side pockets, as opposed to what the description on the website mentioned. Reiss’ Anita Casual Linen Jumpsuit probably ticks the boxes for those looking for a floor-grazing length wide-leg onesie. It gives off a high fashion aesthetic and the stone colour works nicely with any complexion.

With Netflix’s Bridgerton drama trending, “regencycore” fashion is rising fast and so as people’s interests in milkmaid dresses. The Pure Cotton Square Neck Midaxi Dress, available in either black or ecru, is great to wear on a hot day when you don’t want put on any restraint on your botton half.

The £45 dress has an elasticated waistband to sculpt you in an envious hourglass silhouette and this one comes with pockets, which are great for fitting your phone, hair ties or lipsticks. Wear this with sandals for a feminine look or with trainers if you are exploring in the city. Nobody’s Child’s smock dress gives you a bigger flexibility for movement if you prefer a slightly loose fit dress.

While gingham and polk dots are in fashion for summer, a monochrome Floral Midaxi Tea Dress, £39.50, is nice on women of all ages and the flowy yet flattering shape makes it perfect to wear at formal occasions.

The waistline sits right below the breasts, which creates an illusion that you look taller even if you’re not wearing heels. The short puff sleeves give volume to balance on the flowing skirt.
