India Put In Easy Group, To Start Campaign Against West Indies

New Delhi: Defending champions India will start their campaign against West Indies on January 19 in the U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 to be held in Malaysia, the schedule of which was released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday. Besides India and West Indies, hosts Malaysia and Sri Lanka are also a part of Group A and will play all their matches at the Bayuemas Oval in Selangor.

Following the success of the inaugural edition, sixteen teams from around the world have been divided into four groups of four teams each. The top three teams from each of the four groups will advance into the Super 6 stage. India will play the rest of their group games against Malaysia on January 21 and Sri Lanka two days later.

The top three teams from Group A and D will constitute Group 1 while that of B and C will make Group 2. The top two teams from Group 1 and 2 will then make it to the semifinals on January 31. The Bayuemas Oval in Selangor will host the final on February 2. February 1 is a reserve day for the semifinals while February 3 is a reserve day for the final.

This will be Malaysia’s first appearance in the U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup as well as Samoa’s first appearance in an ICC World Cup event. To add more to that there will be 16 warm-up fixtures to be played from January 13 to 16, in preparation for the main event
