On 31st July, the 30-share BSE Sensex settled higher by 285.94 points or 0.35 per cent at 81,741.34 — its all-time closing high — with 20 of its components advancing and 10 ending lower. The index opened higher and jumped 372.64 points or 0.45 per cent to hit an intra-day high of 81,828.04.

The NSE Nifty rose 93.85 points or 0.38 per cent to close at an all-time high of 24,951.15. During the day, it surged 127.3 points or 0.51 per cent to hit a high of 24,969.35.

  1. Tata Steel Stock: Tata group steelmaker reported a 51 per cent year-on-year jump in its consolidated net profit to Rs 960 crore for the June quarter, with an improvement of 350 bps in its margin to 12.2 per cent.
  2. Coal India Stock: Coal India reported a net profit of Rs 10,944 crore for the fiscal first quarter of FY25.
  3. Bank of Baroda Stock: Bank of Baroda reported  a 9.5 per cent year-on-year increase in its standalone net profit to Rs 4,458.2 crore with NII growth of 5.5 per cent to Rs 11,600 crore for the April-June period.
  4. Infosys Stock: Infosys said Karnataka State GST authorities had issued a pre-show cause notice for payment of GST of Rs 32,403 crore for the period from July 2017 to March 2022 “towards the expenses incurred by overseas branch offices of Infosys Limited”. 
  5. Phoenix Mills Stock: The board of The Phoenix Mills approved a proposal to issue bonus shares in the ratio of 1:1 (one bonus share for each share held).  
  6. Quarterly Results Stock: 90 companies including ITC, Tata Motors, Sun Pharma, Zomato earnings due on August 1.

  11. Adani Power Stock: Company  reported a 55 per cent Y-o-Y decline in its consolidated net profit to Rs 3,913 crore in Q1FY25, compared to Rs 8,759 crore reported in Q1FY24. 
  12. Mankind Pharma Stock: The pharma major’s reported  a net profit rise of 9.9 per cent Y-o-Y in Q1 FY25 to Rs 543 crore, from Rs 494 crore reported for the same period last year.
