In an exclusive interview with India.com, Ramit Sethi, co-founder of Seclude Hotel Home Style, opened up on ideas on how to beat the long queues of traffic while travelling. He also gave some insightful tips on how to look for accommodation without burning a hole in your pocket.
Travel Tips to Beat The Traffic and Save Time
When we asked Ramit for his recommendations for people trying to reach the hills faster without spending hours in traffic, he told us, “Travelers heading to popular hill stations during the day often encounter heavy traffic. However, leaving in the wee hours can be a win-win situation, allowing you to avoid traffic jams and the scorching heat. If you leave late, then there are chances you will add more couple of hours to your journey.”
Additionally, he highlighted that Seclude properties are situated away from main cities, offering time-saving accommodations for those visiting the hills. He added, “As for Seclude properties, the accommodations are built far from main cities, saving travellers valuable time when visiting the hills.”
The co-founder of Seclude revealed that leaving at 8 in the morning could lead to encountering flooded roads by 10 or 11 am. That is because during this time shops along the roads typically open, occupying a significant portion of the space. He also advised that one can travel by train, if there are options, to cut down the road traffic.
Tips For Getting the Best Value on Your Hotel Stay
Speaking on saving money on hotels and homestays, Ramit said one should make their bookings prior to when the season is not at its peak. Later, he also explained how Seclude takes hassle-free bookings. “What we, as Seclude, do is we keep different channels open for booking. We have a phone channel which is open all seven days till 8 pm. One can call us, and sales agents will answer your query and take the bookings. Then, there is a 24-hour open website where all direct bookings are accepted. We also enlisted all our Seclude properties on OTAs (Online Travel Agencies) where one can make the booking,” Ramit said.
When we asked Ramit whether Seclude properties, situated in off-the-beaten-path locations like Ramgarh and Pangot, are still considered off-beat despite increasing awareness through social media, he said, “Well, I would not call it an off-beat location anymore because people through social media are more aware now. We still aim to build properties in good locations and secluded areas. We still don’t choose the city unless it is for a heritage home.”
We hope this expert advice on travelling can help you enjoy a quicker, more pleasant journey to the hills, escaping both traffic jams and the sweltering heat.
