Insta360 has announced a new Invisible Dive Case for their X3 camera that allows for a fully unobstructed view in your 360° shots. The X3, which was announced in September 2022, features dual 1/2-inch, 48MP sensors and is capable of shooting 5.7K 360-degree video as well as 72MP photos.
Unlike the old case—which was far from invisible—the new case does not appear in your footage and also allows the X3 to completely remove the attached selfie stick from your shots. According to the company, it’s also now possible to create seamless underwater shots, as the case “compensates for water refraction and prevents warping and stitching issues.”
The purpose-built sealed structure means the Invisible Dive Case is IPX8 waterproof, letting you shoot as deep as 164 feet (50 meters), while the slim design allows the case to be mounted and stored with greater ease than typical “bubble” cases. The case ships with 10 Anti-fog Inserts, which are designed to ensure that fogging doesn’t ruin your footage.
The Invisible Dive Case can be purchased on its own for $100 or in the Invisible Dive Kit with the X3 camera, Floating Hand Grip, 114cm Invisible Selfie Stick, and Lens Cap.
