– IPhone: Why you may have to wait for the most expensive iPhone of 2023

The anticipation is building as the launch of the latest iPhone models is drawing close. Traditionally, Apple launches its new iPhones in September every year and it is expected to do the same in 2023. The rumour mills have been whirring with what to expect from the latest models. If the latest rumour is to be believed then buyers may have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Why? The image sensor may not be ready.
According to a report by 9to5Mac, Apple’s main camera parts supplier — which is Sony — may struggle to provide the main sensor for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The report cites a note written by a major equity analyst.
Why the delay for iPhone 15 Pro Max
It is expected that the high-end iPhone model will come equipped with a periscope lens for greater optical zoom. Rumours suggest that the iPhone 15 Pro could miss out on this lens and the vanilla iPhone 15 phones aren’t anyway expected to get this. The reason behind the delay is this camera sensor which could be in the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
It has happened in the past as well that a particular model went on sale late than other iPhones. With the iPhone 14 series, it was the iPhone 14 Plus that went on sale later. Apple generally gives an 8-10 day gap between the launch and the expected sale date. Rumours are rife about iPhone 15 series launching on September 12 whereas it could go on sale on September 22. It remains to be seen if all four models go on sale at the same time or not.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to be powered by the new A17 Bionic chip, which will be faster and more efficient than the A16 Bionic chip in the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is rumoured to support faster charging than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The phone may support up to 35W wired charging and come with colour-coordinate braided cables as well.
