The Great British Baking Show just finished airing Collection 11, and it’s safe to say, the results of the last episode of the season shock us.
During the last week’s episode, viewers watched Dan Hunter, Josh Smalley and Matty Edgell fight to become the winner, as all three struggled across the different challenges. But in the end, Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond happily announced that judges Paull Hollywood and Prue Leith chose to bestow Matty with the victory, making him the 14th person to win the competition since The Great British Baking Show first debuted in August 2010.
While it’s great for Matty, for those looking to see more episodes of The Great British Baking Show, we have some bad news: there won’t be a new episode airing tonight. Not only that, but because the Collection 11 finale aired on December 1, longtime viewers will need to wait until late September 2024 in order to see a new round of bakers claim the cake stand and be declared the winner.
Despite no new season of The Great British Baking Show premiering anytime soon, there is a silver lining to all of this. While the original series won’t be back for a while, fans can catch new episodes of The Great British Baking Show: Holidays on December 8, where U.K. celebrities and previous contestants of the series compete in holiday-centric bakes. And because Netflix drops episodes that already premiered last year in England on the streamer, fans will get to see former host Matt Lucas take his place in the tent ahead of his December 2022 exit from the franchise after three seasons.
If that’s not enough, people can already count on a new season of The Great British Baking Show to air next fall on Netflix. The show went on Instagram to announce that U.K. residents can apply for a spot in the next season.
“Experience the magic for yourself,” read the caption for a short snippet from Paul and Prue on November 29.
We can’t wait!
