Karachi: Young Ishan Kishan has gone out-of-favour from the Indian cricket team after he did not oblige to BCCI’s request of playing domestic cricket. It all started when Kishan opted out of the South Africa tour midway. In due course, the cricketer’s Central contract was also terminated. To make things worse for the cricketer, he was spotted partying in Dubai. Also, Kishan had an IPL season to forget, amassing 360 runs in 14 games at an average of 22.85.
With Kishan now not in contention, former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has opined on the subject providing his perspective. As per Basit, Kishan was more interested in fashion and that got him carried away.
“Ishan Kishan has fallen down the pecking order. Woh bhi thoda sa fashion mein lag gaya tha (He too got into fashion a bit),” he said on his YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team is in Sri Lanka for a white-ball tour where the Men in Blue have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. Suryakumar Yadav is leading the side in the T20Is. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would join the squad for the ODI leg. As per reports, Rohit has already reached Sri Lanka and united with the squad.
Kishan is not part of the squad. He would be hoping to string in some good performances in the domestic circuit and make a case for his return with the selectors. Kishan would hope he gets picked in the Indian side soon, but would realise it will not be easy.
