Japan, Jordan Foreign Ministers agree to deescalate tension in the region|Arab News Japan

TOKYO: Japan and Jordan agreed during telephone talks on Aug. 8th to continue working together to prevent further escalation in the region, as the Foreign Ministry in Tokyo said.

In the talks, held for approximately 30 minutes, Japanese minister KAMIKAWA Yoko and her Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi also discussed the latest developments in the Middle East. 

“Kamikawa stated that Japan is paying close attention to the situation in the Middle East with great interest and concern and explained that it is important to avoid the exchange of attacks and calm down the situation and that Japan has been working on all the parties concerned,” according to the Ministry.

Kamikawa requested Jordan’s cooperation in protecting Japanese nationals in response to the change in the situation.

In response, Safadi stated that the situation is extremely tense and that it is important to cooperate with Japan, a close and strong partner. He shares the concerns expressed by Minister Kamikawa, understanding the gravity of the situation. Minister Safadi then explained the latest situation on the ground as well as Jordan’s diplomatic efforts. 

Safadi also expressed his willingness to cooperate to ensure the safety of Japanese nationals.
