John Stamos, Mike Love and The Beach Boys celebrate 50 years of ‘Endless Summer’

CHICAGO (NewsNation) — It’s been 50 years since The Beach Boys released their album “Endless Summer,” and to celebrate, the group is touring across the U.S. this summer with special guest John Stamos.

The Beach Boys also released a new documentary on Disney+, which reveals the history of how the group originated, including the ups and downs that came along with the fame.

When Mike Love and the rest of the crew were just getting started, they had a station wagon with a U-Haul trailer in the back and had to set up and break down all their equipment and sets, he told NewsNation.

Now, nearly six decades and 100 million records sold later, the Beach Boys have a great crew that does it for them.

“It’s way better than when we started,” Love said.

Stamos, who is joining Love and the rest of the group on tour, started performing with the group right out of his “General Hospital” days in the mid-80s. He joined Love during an interview on “Morning in America” Wednesday, speaking highly of his musical role model.

“Nobody works harder than this man on stage. He buries all the younger guys on stage. He’s mad if we were only doing one show a day,” Stamos said.

“He’s above iconic. He’s above a legend,” Stamos continued. “Here’s why: He knows how much his music is needed in this world right now.”

Stamos explained that Love is completely dedicated to his music and keeping it alive. And Stamos gets to be a part of Love’s musical movement by coming out and playing drums on stage with the Beach Boys, Love said.

“We love having him and the audience absolutely loves him,” Love said.

The two agreed that their brands have melded perfectly together. Stamos compared his time on the road with the Beach Boys to a home where he feels safe.
