New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Jos Buttler lavished praise on former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni for his aura and fan following in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
MS Dhoni holds a massive fan following among cricket lovers because of his success rate in the game. He is arguably the best captain of India ever produced. Team India have won all the ICC titles of that time under his captaincy and in IPL he won the joint most trophies (5) as a leader.
Both Dhoni and Buttler will play against each other in the 61 match of the IPL which will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
“It’s a privilege to play against MS Dhoni. You ask people what their favourite part of this IPL is, a lot of them will say to watch Dhoni bat. Only he can do that, he’s a massive fan following in India” said Buttler on star sports.
The Super Kings are currently fourth in the standings with 12 points from as many games but the defeat against Gujarat Titans on Friday has added dollops of pressure on them, and now they need victory in their remaining two matches.
The Royals, on the other hand, are second with 16 points but they are smarting from two successive defeats against Sunrisers Hyderabad, which was by just a run, and Delhi Capitals.
They are in no real danger of missing the playoff spot, but the Sanju Samson-led side will be eager to return to the winning ways at the earliest and enter the knockouts.
What had hurt CSK against GT was the malfunction of their top-order consisting Ajinkya Rahane, Rachin Ravindra and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and they would be desperate to regain the momentum in Chepauk.
