Kamala Harris, Tim Walz to host fundraiser in San Francisco at glitzy downtown hotel

Presidential contender Vice President Kamala Harris and her newly minted running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz are slated to host a fundraiser this weekend in San Francisco where they’ll be courting some of the Bay Area’s wealthiest Democratic donors.

The fundraiser will take place at the Fairmont Hotel on Nob Hill, with tickets starting at $3,300 per attendee, according to Bloomberg. At $50,000, donors can get a photo, and at $500,000, they’ll be named a chair of the event. Only tickets worth $250,000 or $500,000 remained as of Thursday morning, the outlet reported.

The visit comes just behind the candidates’ multiday tour across several battleground states, which has allowed Harris to introduce Walz to tens of thousands of supporters.

Bloomberg also reported that the Harris campaign is planning an Aug. 17 fundraiser in Mill Valley, though the two candidates aren’t scheduled to make an appearance there.

The Harris campaign raised $310 million in July, as donations came pouring in following President Joe Biden’s announcement that he would abandon his re-election bin. That’s more than double the $138.7 million raised by Donald Trump that month.

The Bay Area is home to a host of some of the country’s most influential Democratic donors, many of whom have rallied around Harris with renewed energy.

Earlier this week, a group of Silicon Valley investors called “VCs for Kamala” received pledges of nearly $150,000 for the Harris campaign. The call included donors like Reid Hoffman, co-founder and executive chairman of LinkedIn, and billionaire investor Ron Conway, who said he would match $50,000 in donations made to the campaign, the New York Times reported.

Hoffman is among those slated to attend the Sunday fundraiser, according to Bloomberg.
