Kate Spade New York Goes British by Opening a Pop-up Pub

LONDON — This is bound to be the year that British pubs become fashionable.

First JW Anderson hosted a party at The Devonshire for their collaboration with Guinness and now Kate Spade New York is going the extra mile with a pub takeover in London’s Exmouth Market.

The Kate Spade Arms will be run for two days Friday and Saturday and it’s even had a mini-makeover with a cute banner that features an illustration of a bow; a larger-than-life green bow at the pub’s front, and the temporary new name of the pub hand-painted onto its windows along with another big bow.

“We are constantly exploring new ways to engage with younger customers, and we want to authentically meet our community where they are in a way that is uniquely Kate Spade. As an emotive brand, we value the importance of building deeper connections with our customers through interactive experiences,” said Matteo De Bortoli Albricci, senior vice president of Kate Spade parent Tapestry and general manager for the EMEAI regions.

The takeover includes wall art commissioned from artist Eleanor Isobelle and a curated menu of own-branded crisps and festive drinks, as well as live music from an all-female brass brand, fun workshops and pub games such as a quiz night hosted by “Bridgerton” star and Kate Spade New York ambassador Nicola Coughlan on Thursday evening.

The workshop programming is done predominantly with independent female partners and they will include deadstock scrunchie making with Good Squish; a fiber art class hosted by Material Grrrlz; a “game and chill” night with Black Girl Gamers; a cocktail class with influencer Maddi, otherwise known as Crip & Dip; candle making with OHROS Candles, and a run club and lunch with the Lonely Girls Club.
