Kawasaki: Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R: 400 cc but each cylinder more powerful than a 150 cc motorcycle

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki has finally launched the new Kawasaki ZX-4R to the Indian market. The motorcycle has been priced at Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and it sits between Ninja 400 and Ninja 650. Let’s take a look at its design, features, engine and more.

The Kawasaki ZX-4R was revealed globally a few months ago and internationally the bike is available in three variants – standard, SE and RR. Only the base variant has been launched in India. The bike is available only Metallic Spark Black colour option.

The Kawasaki ZX-4R sits on a brand-new steel trellis frame suspended by an upside-down Showa SFF-BP fork (Separate Function Fork – Big Piston) and a preload-adjustable horizontal mono-shock at the rear. Braking duties are taken care of by twin 290mm disc brakes at the front with Nissin four-piston radial callipers. At the rear, it gets a single 220mm disc, and it also gets dual-channel ABS. It gets 120/70-ZR17 tyres at the front and 160/60-ZR17 at the rear.

The Kawasaki ZX-4R is powered by a liquid-cooled, 399cc, inline-four-cylinder engine which puts out 80 hp of power and 39 Nm of torque. The engine comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

In terms of features, it gets a 4.3-inch colour TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity which enables turn-by-turn navigation and notification alerts. It also gets four riding modes – Sport, Road, Rain and a customisable Rider mode, which allows the rider to adjust the traction control and power modes.
