Khloe Kardashian shares shock image amid skin cancer update

Khloe Kardashian has shared a shocking image showing how she was left with a significant indent on the side of her face after having a skin cancer removed.

The 39-year-old reality TV star had to have a melanoma surgically removed after initially thinking it was just a pimple.

In a series of Instagram posts, she has kept fans updated on her skin cancer journey since first being diagnosed.

“For those of you who do not know, I had a skin cancer scare on my face,” she wrote in a recent post.

After surgery, she added, her surgeon did a “f****** stellar job on making my scar as small as possible”.

She added that he “made sure that I am completely cancer free”.

“@garthmd made sure everything was as flat as possible so there was no stretching of the scar, incision area, and we tried to avoid keloiding as much as possible,” she wrote.

“He’s just the best.”

Keloiding refers to the development of a firm, rubbery, fibrous scar that can develop at the site of injured skin.

There was one obvious side effect, however, when Kardashian’s scar healed – a noticeable indentation where the tumour had been removed.

“I am definitely not complaining because I would rather have an indentation than melanoma any day,” Kardashian said.

“I am so incredibly grateful to all the doctors who helped and continue to help me on my skin cancer journey.”

Now, Kardashian is having filler injections to “re-plump” the part of her face that is indented.

She showed some before and after shots after her first injection, which showed a significant lessening of the indentation.

Kardashian also warned her fans to get regular skin checks.

“Be consistent with your skin cancer checks!” she wrote.

“No-one is exempt.

“One check could save your life.

“Even if you think it’s nothing.

“It never hurts to get it looked at.”

Kardashian revealed she waited seven months to get the “small bump” checked out because she thought it was a pimple that would eventually go away.

When it didn’t, she had a biopsy performed – and the result shocked her.

The skin cancer scare was addressed in a recent episode of season three of The Kardashians.

“Melanoma is deadly,” she said.

“This is way more serious than I anticipated it to be.”
