TOKYO: Kim Yo-jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and the deputy director of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, has condemned the “dirty acts” of South Korea, accusing the “South Korean scum” of sending leaflets and goods over the border.
“Our sacred territory was contaminated,” Kim said in a speech on Sunday. “I strongly condemn the dirty and inferior acts of the South Korean gang, who ignored our repeated warnings and once again forced provocation to spread anti-republic political conspiracy. Our people’s anger at the dirtiest of mongrel dogs has reached the sky. The human scum will pay the price.”
Groups in South Korea often use drones and balloons to send items over the border into North Korea to influence ordinary North Korean citizens and to offer glimpses of life in the South.
Separately, a commentary by the Korean Central News Agency on Sunday accused the “reactionary forces of Japan” of “severely threatening the peace and security of the region.”
The commentary cited Japanese Prime Minister ISHIBA Shigeru’s aim to strengthen Japan’s defense capabilities with the ability to launch pre-emptive strikes.
“When the regional situation became more dangerous than ever due to the Japan-US-South Korea invasion exercise scandal aimed at our sacred country, as soon as he became prime minister, he did not hesitate to publicly talk about strengthening the ability to attack enemy bases,” the commentary stated. “This is another example of Japan’s re-invasion and raising the temperature of war.”
It said Japan’s purpose for maintaining “enemy base attack capabilities” was an excuse to develop hypersonic and long-range missiles. “In fact, Japan openly made a fuss about the plan to develop a new type of attack weapon that far surpasses the performance of hypersonic weapons,” the commentary stated.
It concluded: “Japan should keep in mind that strengthening its ‘counterattack ability’ will lead to the complete loss of its survivability.”
