Tata Patriarch Ratan Tata died on October 9 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. His last rites were performed with full state honours at Worli crematorium in Mumbai.
Ratan Tata’s close aide and youngest general manager Shanatanu Naidu was seen shattered after his demise. He shared his thoughts on LinkedIn. Shantanu wrote: “The hole that this friendship has now left with me, I will spend the rest of my life trying to fill. Grief is the price we pay for love. Goodbye, my dear lighthouse..”

Shantanu wanted to design glow-in-the-dark collars for animals to prevent accidents, allowing drivers to see them more easily. He approached Ratan Tata for financial support for his project. Soon after, Shantanu launched ‘Motopaws.
Along with ‘Motopaws’, Shantanu also launched a startup ‘Good Fellows’ for elderly people who would live with younger companions. Ratan Tata and Shantanu had started sharing a good bonding as their projects were also kicked off. Later, Shantanu went to the US to pursue an MBA programme. But, he promised that he would join the company again once the course completion.
After earning his graduation degree, Shantanu accepted the role of Assistant to Ratan Tata and became the youngest general manager of Tata Group. Ratan Tata had attended Shantanu’s graduation ceremony.
