Shooter Manu Bhaker and archer Deepika Kumari will aim to add to India’s medal tally on Day 8 of the Paris Olympics 2024.
An exciting day is in store for the Indian fans on Saturday (August 3) as Day 8 of the Paris Olympics 2024 gets underway with at least three medals up for grabs for the nation. The biggest medal hope and sportsperson on the doorstep of history is shooter Manu Bhaker.
No other Indian has managed to win three medals in a single Olympics Games and the 22-year-old can achieve this feat when he turns up for the women’s 25m pistol final from 1pm IST. Manu Bhaker has already won two bronze in women’s 10m air pistol and 10m air pistol mixed team event.
Veteran archer Deepika Kumari will look to put the disappointment of archery team event behind her when she goes up against Michelle Kroppen of Germany in the women’s individual archery pre-quarters. Her compatriot Bhajan Kaur will face Diananda Choirunisa.
Both Deepika and Bhajan will take inspiration from the mixed team’s performance on Day 7 on Friday, who managed to reach the bronze medal playoff stage. Golfing action will continue with Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar in action in action in Round 3.
The last remaining hope in the boxing event – Nishant Dev will face Mexico’s Marco Verde in the 71kg quarterfinal and win for the Indian pugilist will ensure at least a bronze medal as even the losing semifinalist secure a bronze in boxing event.
