The UK and Ukraine have had a very close relationship in the past couple of years and that has included creatives from both countries.
Now 15-year-old Ukrainian brand Litkovska has collaborated with British image maker and director of Showstudio Nick Knight on a capsule collection that “merges the vibrant spirit of Ukraine with Knight’s artistic vision”.
The collab is “centred around themes of beauty, resilience, and renewal” and was part of Litkovska’s SS25 collection that was unveiled at a Paris Fashion Week presentation this week.
The partners said that all profits from this collab will support a project dedicated to helping Ukrainian children.
The items themselves will be available at retail starting next February.
We’re told that each piece combines artisanal techniques and contemporary silhouettes, while exclusively for the collaboration, Knight has developed floral images that were then deconstructed, embroidered and applied to various fabrics, playing with the shapes and lines of the garments.
Lilia Litkovska pointed out how decorative and comforting flowers can be during times of peace but those that grow through the rubble on the battlefield also underline the power of beauty and nature.
The capsule features a range of clothing centered around the theme of ‘harvest’ and includes a jacket, suit pants, an open-back vest, voluminous shirts, as well as various denim pieces, including skirts and jackets. There’s also a slogan T-shirt testifying to the power of flowers.
Knight said that he hopes the collaboration can bring some comfort or shine a light on the suffering that the war in Ukraine is causing.
And to further emphasise that, the collaboration was initiated by Be an Angel e.V., managed by Holger Homann. This is an international humanitarian organisation, which has been working on the relief front daily since March 2022.
