Vancouver-based athletic apparel brand Lululemon, in collaboration with the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) and Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC), unveiled on Tuesday its inaugural summer Athlete Kit for Team Canada, ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Team Canada x Lululemon Paris 2024 Athlete Kit integrates functionality and style through innovative construction and performance fabrics, incorporating modern silhouettes and Canadian-inspired prints.
Throughout the design phase, Lululemon did product testing and feedback sessions with 19 Canadian Olympic and Paralympic athletes from 14 different sports to tailor the kit to their distinct needs during the Games.
“For Paris 2024, we had the opportunity to deepen our partnership with the Olympians and Paralympians who represent Canada on the global stage,” said Calvin McDonald, CEO, Lululemon.
“We took an innovation-first approach to design a collection driven by athlete insights, so they can feel and perform their best in Paris. All of us at Lululemon are honoured to support these athletes, both as individuals and a team, as they represent their country this summer.”
Design features of the Athlete Kit include adaptability with magnetic-close zippers and pull-on loops, thermal comfort with adjustable styles and sweat-wicking fabrics, as well as enhanced fit and function with four-way stretch fabrics and customizable drawcords.
The kit also celebrates national pride with prints inspired by Canada’s beauty, embodying the journey of the athletes throughout the Games.
Athletes, coaches, and support staff will wear Team Canada apparel during key moments at the Games, including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, medal ceremonies, media appearances, travel, and daily life in the Athlete Village.
“Our partnership with Lululemon has been transformational for Team Canada athletes,” said David Shoemaker, CEO, Canadian Olympic Committee.
“We are thrilled to be working with an outfitter that truly understands our mission and shares our values, and has worked so hard to create a team kit that can make us all proud. Not only are Team Canada athletes going to shine on the field of play – they’re going to turn heads wherever they show up in Paris.”
This marks Lululemon’s second collection designed for the Games, as part of a multi-year partnership with the COC and CPC as the Official Outfitter of Team Canada. HBC, the parent company of The Bay, was the previous apparel sponsor owning the rights to Team Canada’s Olympic looks since 2006. Prior to that, Roots was Canada’s Olympic outfitter.
The Athlete Kit is accompanied by a retail collection, launching online in Canada on Tuesday, and in stores on April 17. Additional apparel and accessories will be available online in the U.S. and select stores in Paris leading up to the Games.
In collaboration with the COC and CPC, Lululemon contributes to the Future Legacy program, with 10% of sales from Future Legacy items supporting the Canadian Olympic Foundation and Paralympic Foundation of Canada, aiding athletes in accessing resources and funding.
