Luxury Cashmere Line Minnie Rose Toasts First Retail Store in NYC

Minnie Rose, the luxury cashmere knitwear brand, threw a welcome party Tuesday night at its first retail store at 1019 Lexington Avenue in New York.

Dubbed the “Cashmere Chalet,” the shop features Minnie Rose’s luxurious cashmere and cotton and cashmere crewnecks, T-shirts, shrunken blazers, shawls, hoodies, joggers and cardigans, along with exclusive one-of-a-kind pieces in an intimate, warm setting.

“I chose this neighborhood because my parents lived around the corner, and I always loved the area. It’s so quaint and charming,” said Lisa Shaller-Goldberg, founder and creative director of Minnie Rose, which she started in 2006. The 750-square-foot store on the corner of East 73rd Street gets lots of light, has a seating area, two dressing rooms and features some of her late mother’s decor, such as brass shelving and vintage perfume bottles.

Shaller-Goldberg hosted more than 100 people who enjoyed a hot cocoa topping bar and a grazing table. There was also an embroidery table by Abbode, embroidering items for guests.

“I believe in it [Minnie Rose] and I wear it all the time,” said Sheryl Blit, owner of Havana Jeans, which has two stores in Rye, N.Y. and Armonk, N.Y. “It’s an easy sell and one of my bestsellers,” she said.

Shaller-Goldberg said she hopes to have five stores operating by the end of next year in locations such as downtown New York, Palm Beach, Aspen, Malibu and Connecticut.

She said her partner in the store is Leap, which opens and operates brick-and-mortar stores for brands, and “without them I never would have taken this on.” The store will be open seven days a week and employs eight people.

Shaller-Goldberg anticipates the “Shalom” printed sweater will sell well. “The Aspen Western vibe [group] has been phenomenal,” she said, as well as her classic oversize crewneck sweaters.

Minnie Rose clothing retails from $110 to $400, with the average retail price around $350, said Shaller-Goldberg.
